In September 2025, the learning community webinar featured Rina Hisamatsu, MPH, RDN, MCT2D's Registered Dietitian.
Rina led a comprehensive session on low-carbohydrate diets, covering her role in managing type 2 diabetes and providing practical implementation strategies for healthcare providers. The discussion included updates to educational resources, clinical practices, and the use of various dietary tools and approaches, including very low calorie diets and net carb counting. Rina presented findings from multiple studies and initiatives demonstrating the effectiveness of low-carb diets in diabetes management, while also addressing concerns about implementation challenges and medication interactions.
