First Annual Collaborative Wide Meeting Held in June

August 25, 2022

The Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes (MCT2D) held our first collaborative wide meeting, welcoming members to a full-day networking and discussion event, held in Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, June 24th. Over 80 physician organization and practice unit representatives as well as members of our Patient Advisory Board joined our day’s proceedings. Sessions were recorded and are available to view below and in a YouTube video playlist.
Four accelerated practice sites—represented by Northern Michigan Care Partners, Medical Network One, Oakland Physician Network Services, and Henry Ford Hospital—presented on the lessons learned from their participating in the MCT2D CQI, including initial challenges, operationalizing solutions, implementation strategies, and tips for other member practices.
The MCT2D coordinating center provided key administrative updates, reflecting on the first year of the Collaborative. We welcomed keynote speaker, Dr. David Ludwig, MD, PhD, pediatric endocrinologist, Boston Children's Hospital, Professor of Pediatrics and researcher at Harvard Medical School, and author of the book "Always Hungry.” His lecture “Carbohydrate-Insulin Model: A physiological perspective on the obesity pandemic” is available.
Dr. Ludwig was introduced by MCT2D Patient Advisory Board member Frankie Bacarella.
MCT2D Lead Pharmacist Dr. Heidi Diez, PharmD with her patient and MCT2D Patient Advisory Board Member Suzanne.
